“Love isn’t a state of perfect caring. It is an active noun like struggle. To love someone is to strive to accept that person exactly the way he or she is, right here and now.”
I like thinking of love as an ‘active noun’. The academic part of me says a noun or a verb AND I am taking in what Mr. Rogers had to say about love.
The real draw for me is about love being unconditional; that is, love is to strive to accept someone exactly the way she or he is, right now, and sometimes that is a struggle! One of our favorite lines from Love, Valor Compassion is when Jason Alexander says, “Love me, love my love handles!” It could also be, “Love me, love my wife, husband, children, dog, cat . . . Sometimes, love is a very conscious choice!
Why this image? I love the beach and water, but it is not always beautiful, sunny and blues skies. Sometimes it is gloomy and rainy. Sometimes there are vicious, killer storms. Still I love it!
Hugs and have a great day! Cheryl
